Colleen Fanning entered the field of public art with the City and County of Denver in 1996, with 6 of those years providing strategic solutions for the art program at Denver International Airport. She lead an expansion of the world-class art program to enrich the public spaces in the 5th busiest airport in the country for both passengers and the more than 30,000 badged employees. She gained in-depth knowledge of media relations, master planning, economic development, project budgeting, copyright issues and contract negotiations. She has done extensive research with the airport legal department on topics such as Visual Artists Rights Act (VARA). Her strength is in building networks for collaboration resulting in partnerships with many community leaders and organizations.
Fanning works as the liaison to bridge the gaps in the public art process between key stakeholders in order to achieve excellent communications and efficiently manage projects on time and on budget.
